Engineered Inert gas system

Engineered Inert gas system

GreenQuench Total Flooding Automatic Inert Gas Fire Suppression System utilizes Nitrogen / Inergen as fire suppression agents which are naturally occurring inert gases commonly advocated by NFPA and globally used by all manufacturers.  Inert gases are environmentally friendly in the way of zero ozone depletion, toxicologically safe, thermally and chemically stable, electrically non conducting, do not leave a residue upon discharge & evaporation. Hence, it can be designed and used for fires resulting from different types of hazards – Class A, Class B or Class C.

The working principle of an Inert Gas Fire Suppression System is oxygen reduction in the enclosed space to deprive combustion fuel.  When the inert gas is discharged into the hazard zone, oxygen is reduced in the enclosed space so that oxygen for continued combustion is not available and fires are put out.  The agent is nontoxic and therefore does not produce corrosive decomposition products when exposed to fire and is designed to protect valuable assets.  The agent leaves no residues or oily deposits, and hence can be used to protect electronic equipment or other sensitive assets. Since the agents are colourless, visibility is not affected when the gas is injected into an enclosure. People can safely exit during the fire suppression process.  As this is an engineered system, the installer has to follow strictly the manufacturer’s guidelines pertaining to the cylinder assembly, nozzle placement and other installation procedures.

GreenQuench system uses a unique Constant Pressure Regulator (CPR) technology, which regulates the system discharge to 60 bar. This CPR technology reduces the requirement of heavy pipe and supports.  Where the distance between the cylinder bank and the hazard zone (discharge nozzles) are long and hence the gas has to travel a longer distance, orifice type pressure reducer may be used.

Approvals & Compliance

The GreenQuench Fire extinguishing system integrates modular components which meet the requirements of EN/NFPA 2001 Standards and also approved by VdS, Germany.  The GreenQuench Inert Gas fire suppression systems (IG 100 and IG 541) comply with the following standards:

NFPA 2001, Standard for Clean Agent Fire Extinguishing Systems

VdS 3518Safety and health protection in connection with Gas Extinguishing Systems

VdS 2454 Gas Extinguishing Systems Requirements and test methods

EN 15004-1 Fixed fire fighting systems – Gas Extinguishing Systems – Design, Installation and Maintenance

EN 15004-8 Fixed fire fighting systems – Gas Extinguishing Systems – Physical properties and system design of IG-100
