System Automation

Samay Project Services Limited (SPSL) (Samay) integrates electro mechanical systems and instrumentation as part of its turnkey project implementation.   Electrical Pumps are powered by Motor control panels and the diesel pumps are controlled by the engine control panel.  The Control Room (Centre) of the project needs to understand status of each and every pump in the project, power consumption, failure of electrical power in any of the subsystems and faults on a real time basis, as they are very important for the smooth functioning of the industrial process.  Similarly, the sensors, whether level, pressure, flow, all have to be integrated with the pumping systems in automating the process.  Pipeline instruments such as flow transmitters, temperature transmitters, valve actuators, valve limit switches, all have to be integrated in Hydro Carbon pipelines to present status of unloading and transfer of Hydrocarbons.  In Cross Country piping and gas transfer, monitoring the various parameters in the pipelines are very important to identify leakage, surges and abnormal situations.  PLC Control panels and SCADA can be integrated to the process lines to provide monitoring and control logics from a single or multiple points.  Today controls can be built in a cloud-based network and the same can be monitored and operated via a remote server or mobile from anywhere in the World.

In a Fire Alarm Installation, all sensors are connected to a Fire Alarm Panel.  Multiple fire alarm panels are then integrated to a Central Monitoring Station.  The fire alarms are also integrated to Deluge Valves, Flow control valves, instruments such as pressure and flow switches, Solenoids and foam systems.  The process parameters can be monitored and commencement of fire fighting can be automated based on the logic built in.  Cross zoning can be implemented with two different sensors from two different zones getting triggered before actuation of firefighting.

All Gaseous fire suppression systems have an extinguishing panel which generate a actuation trigger when two zones are activated.  Foam firefighting system actuation is also based on cross zoning principles by integrating duct sensors and smoke or linear heat detection sensors to prevent false alarm actuations.  In the case of water mist system, dual inputs are taken from a pre-action system and a fire alarm sensor.  The Fire Alarm Panels, Pump Panels, Extinguishing Panels can be integrated with control and annunciation panels to provide real time visibility in multiple points enabling the concerned personnel to take action immediately on detection of a fire.
