GreenQuench Automatic Clean Agent Fire Suppression System can be classified into two categories -direct and indirect. In the direct type, the gas is discharged directly through the detection tube on detection of the fire. In the indirect system, the detection and fire suppression happen vide separate sensor tube detection and discharge/ nozzle arrangement. HFC 227 ea and FK 5-1-12 are two agents commonly advocated NFPA and used by all manufacturers. Both the agents are zero ozone depleting, toxicologically safe, thermally and chemically stable, electrically non conducting and do not leave a residue upon discharge and evaporation. FK-5-1-12 is superior of the two as the life time of the agent is three days and contribute to negligible global warming.
The automatic direct system is a stored pressure type pre-engineered system. Pneumatic heat detection tubing connected to the cylinder valve is run through the panel hazard zones for detection of flame / heat. When temperature exceeds the temperature limit of the polymeric tube due to a local fire, the tube melts and a tube burst at the hot spot occurs. This results in the clean agent getting released directly vide the burst section which extinguishes the fire in the panel. In the indirect system, on detection of the flame, the valve is opened and the agent gets released through a dedicated piping and nozzle arrangement into the cabinet. Direct low-pressure system is the popular model due to the installation ease and simplicity.
The cabinet fire protection system can be designed and used for fires resulting from different types of hazards – Class A & Class C. As this is a pre-engineered system, the installer has to follow strictly the manufacturer’s guidelines pertaining to the length of detection tube, usage of fittings and other installation procedures.
Approvals & Compliance
The GreenQuench pre-engineered clean agent extinguishing system integrates modular components which meet the requirements of International Standards and local regulatory norms. Cylinder is PESO approved. Valves are TPED approved. Clean Agent and the Detection Tube are UL listed. Gauges comply to EN / ISI standards
Supervision / Monitoring
The cylinder pressure can be monitored for maintenance purposes as dual contact pressure switches are provided. If there is any reduction in pressure of the cylinder beyond the set pressure limits, a fault is generated. The maintenance personnel can take remedial steps on receipt of the alarm. In case the total gas is released due to a fire, another signal is received which can be taken to a fire alarm system for alarm activation and control room monitoring.
